Description

They say that if you truly love a person, it's hard to say "I love you"; ironically, it's easier to say it if you don't really love a person. When Michelle's parents died, she discovered that the person who gave her name wasn't her real father. She also discovered in her mom's belongings a letter that pointed her to a place that she has never heard of before. While travelling to El Paraiso, she was bewildered by strangers who mistook her for somebody else. Most especially an arrogant, handsome stranger who unnerved her. Michelle discovered that El Paraiso was an appropriate name for that place. The small town was picture-perfect. She and the arrogant man saw each other again and she learned that the man owns the hotel where she was staying. Adrian Olivar was always there at every turn. But is the place really a paradise? What if little by little she discovers the many secrets hidden in that small town?

Chapter 1

Feb 4, 2022

S HE SMILED at the note in her hands. She read it again.

Darling,

I want us to celebrate our anniversary in that place. Just be there. Dala ko ang picnic basket at champagne. I promise a surprise for you...

Hinagod ng umiibig niyang paningin ang signature. Another soft smile hovered her lips. Her heart was overflowing with love.

Not on this day where her lover wanted them to celebrate their anniversary for the first time.

This was her favorite perfume and he bought this big bottle for her.

She smiled as she thought that this was really a surprise. She started calling his name softly like a lover should.

She walked toward the Jeep. But the Jeep was empty. No basket. No blanket, and no food. She frowned and turned around her.

To some people, this place might give them the creeps, lalo na ang guho ng dating parola.

She turned to the lighthouse ruins which according to her father had been built by the Spaniards. It hadn’t been used anymore for a hundred of years.

They’d been inside the ruin once but they didn’t linger. He had advised it wasn’t safe. Walang mahuhulog doon at mabubuhay.

She frowned when she heard a croaked whisper of her name.

“If you intend to scare me, my love, then think again,” natatawang sabi niya sa dilim at narinig niya ang alingawngaw ng tinig niya sa buong kaguhuan.

SHE SCREAMED.

Bumalikwas siya kasabay ng paghahabol ng hininga. May ilang sandaling sinikap niyang kalmahin ang sarili bago nilinga ang buong paligid. Sinisikap niyang isipin kung nasaan siya.

Then she realized she was in a hotel room. They were in Vancouver. Sila ng mga magulang niya. They were in a room next to hers. They were celebrating her parents’ twentieth anniversary.

She shivered.

Muli siyang humiga. Indescribable sadness enveloped her. A kind that she felt like crying. She blinked. That was silly. Isa lang iyong masamang panaginip.

Just a bad dream. Just as she had those dreams when she was a little girl.

Never Just Friends

I Wanna Ruin Our Friendship

I've always been "the quiet, nerdy girl." The girl with her nose buried in a book, the girl people barely notice. But my world is a lot more complicated than it seems. You see, I'm absolutely, hopelessly in love with my best friend, Logan Reyes-the bad boy everyone wants but nobody can quite hold onto. And he has no idea. Logan and I have been friends forever. We banter, we laugh, and we're close. But to him, I'm just Emma, the girl he'll confide in about everything-except his new flings, like Vanessa, the school's reigning queen bee. She's got her sights on Logan and everyone knows it. Meanwhile, Logan and I share this strange, unspoken chemistry that I can't ignore, even if we act like it's no big deal. But everything changes the night I get roped into a game of spin the bottle at Vanessa's party. When the bottle lands on Logan, he kisses me in front of everyone-and suddenly, it's like I'm seeing Logan in a whole new light, and he's seeing me differently, too. Now he's paying me attention in a way that's unsettling, thrilling, and absolutely forbidden. And just when I think I can ignore it, Logan begins pursuing me-unabashedly, against all the rules he's lived by and despite his so-called girlfriend's wishes. Now, I'm caught in a whirlwind of gossip, jealousy, and emotions I can barely handle. Logan's breaking his own rules for me, and the harder I try to resist him, the more I find myself pulled back. But when we're toeing the line between friendship and something much more dangerous, my heart-and his-are on the line.
