Description

Juliet Alden is the girl who plays by every rule-headmaster's favorite, top of her class, a virgin by choice and principle. Grayson West is the boy who never met a rule he didn't seduce, break, or burn. When the Ethics professor pairs them for a project on modern morality, the real lesson isn't found in textbooks-it's in temptation, boundaries, and how fast they can unravel each other. Grayson doesn't just see her purity-he wants to shatter it. "You're not scared of me," he murmurs, "you're scared of what I make you feel." And Juliet isn't sure if she's falling into desire or being dragged down by it. "Maybe I hate how you make me feel." "How do I make you feel?" "Confused," she whispers. With every stolen kiss and whispered dare, he pulls her deeper into his orbit. But as their connection intensifies, Juliet must confront what it means to choose virtue-when sin tastes like salvation. "I could ruin you, Juliet," he breathes, "and you'd thank me for it."

Chapter 1

Jul 28, 2025

“So what’s the deal, Alden—you saving it for God, or just holding out for a better offer?”

The words hit before I even finish rounding the corner behind the gym, slamming into my chest like I walked straight into a moving car. I know that voice—Connor Dale, the kind of boy who never learned that ‘no’ is a full sentence.

They’re already waiting. Three of them—Connor, Marco, and Liam—blocking the shortcut I always take to avoid the crowd. They’re not here by accident. And I am suddenly, painfully aware that no one else is around.

“I’m walking away,” I say, my voice as flat as I can make it. “You should too.”

Marco grins like I just told a joke he’s heard before. “We just want to talk,” he says, stepping forward as I try to pass. “School’s all about discussion these days, right?”

I stop, not because I want to, but because I’m boxed in—my back to the wall, the gym exit sealed off by three boys with too much free time and nothing to fear. My fingers curl around the strap of my backpack, not because it’ll help, but because I need to hold on to something.

“I meant what I said in class,” I tell them, more sharply this time, more like my mom would. “I’m not interested in whatever game you think this is.”

“You made it public, sweetheart,” Liam says, leaning in. “You stood up in front of the whole class and said you’re saving yourself. That kind of statement invites curiosity.”

“What it invites is none of your damn business.”

Connor raises an eyebrow. “Language, Saint Juliet. That kind of mouth might ruin your whole brand.”

I want to punch him. I want to scream. But mostly, I want to vanish. Because that classroom speech—the one I gave like I believed it—wasn’t really for me. It was for my mother. For my father. For the spotless Alden name they worked so hard to keep pristine.

I’ve worn that vow like armor for years. Not because I’m holy. Because I’m afraid of what happens if I drop it.

“What’s your angle, anyway?” Marco asks, tilting his head. “You think it makes you better than the rest of us? Untouchable?”

“No,” I say, meeting his gaze and hoping my voice doesn’t shake. “You guys treat sex like it's a party favor. I treat it like it means something.”

Liam snorts. “So you’re a prude with a superiority complex. Got it.”

Connor’s face changes then—amusement sliding into something colder. “See, I think what it really means is you like the attention. You like that everyone knows you’re different. Special. Pure.” His smile is all teeth now. “I think you’re just daring someone to call your bluff.”

He moves forward, too close, and I take a step back, my spine hitting the cold brick wall of the gym.

Marco shifts beside him, eyes sharp. “Come on, Alden. Just a little test. We won’t even leave a mark.”

My stomach flips, dread thick in my throat. This is no longer just teasing. It’s something else now—hotter, hungrier, meaner.

My pulse thunders in my ears. My fingers twitch at my side. And just when I open my mouth to scream, to shove, to do something

“Back the fuck off.”

The voice doesn’t shout, but it hits like a gunshot. Clear. Icy. Dangerous.

All three of them freeze, and I turn my head, heart still pounding.

He’s standing there, half in shadow at the edge of the alleyway, his hands shoved into the pockets of his uniform slacks like he’s already bored of whatever he’s about to do.

Grayson West.

The boy your parents warned you about—and not in the cliché “bad boy” way. No, Grayson’s trouble in a quieter, deeper way. He’s been kicked out of two elite schools, and St. Augustine’s only keeps him around because his family donates enough to pay off three wings of the building.

His tie is missing. His blazer’s unbuttoned. There’s a fading bruise on the edge of his jaw, and he wears it like an accessory.

“Didn’t realize this school let dogs off-leash,” he says, strolling closer, eyes never leaving Connor. “Or is this some new extracurricular—cornering girls behind buildings?”

Connor straightens up. “Mind your business, West.”

Grayson stops a few feet away, one eyebrow arched. “You touching a girl who said no is my business.”

Marco laughs under his breath. “Look who’s playing white knight.”

Grayson’s gaze shifts to him, then to Liam. There’s nothing theatrical about it, but something in the way he stands—shoulders relaxed, head tilted slightly—makes them take a half-step back without realizing they’ve done it.

“Walk away,” he says softly. “Before I give the dean something real to expel me for.”

The moment stretches long and tense.

Then Connor scoffs, spits on the ground, and turns. “Freak.”

They leave without another word, retreating like animals who just realized they’ve wandered into someone else’s territory.

For a beat, neither of us moves.

My legs are shaking. My hands won’t unclench. I keep staring at the ground until I feel his eyes on me.

“You good, Saint Juliet?” he asks finally, quiet again. Less threat. More question.

I look up.

And our eyes lock.

And it’s not like the books say—no slow zoom or magic music. Just two people staring too long and saying nothing, and somehow it still feels like the air got thinner between us.

His storm-gray eyes hold mine like he’s trying to figure out if I’m going to break.

I don’t blink.

And neither does he.

She's got her sights on Logan and everyone knows it. Meanwhile, Logan and I share this strange, unspoken chemistry that I can't ignore, even if we act like it's no big deal. But everything changes the night I get roped into a game of spin the bottle at Vanessa's party. When the bottle lands on Logan, he kisses me in front of everyone-and suddenly, it's like I'm seeing Logan in a whole new light, and he's seeing me differently, too. Now he's paying me attention in a way that's unsettling, thrilling, and absolutely forbidden. And just when I think I can ignore it, Logan begins pursuing me-unabashedly, against all the rules he's lived by and despite his so-called girlfriend's wishes.
