"Do you, Stanley Dunne, take—”
“I do,” Stanley interrupted before the priest could finish, his voice firm, his grip on her hand almost bruising. He lifted it to his lips, brushing a kiss against her trembling fingers.
The priest hesitated but continued. “And do you, Olivia Hayes, take Stanley Dunne to be your lawfully wedded husband?”
Silence.
Livvy’s throat tightened. Her fingers curled into her palm as she glanced at her brother. Michael sat rigid in the front row, jaw clenched, hands gripping his knees. But he didn’t move. He couldn’t.
Because their parents were watching.
Because no one could save her.
Across from her, Stanley’s lips curled into that smirk. The one that always made her stomach churn.
From the corner of her eye, she saw his friends—his business partners, his men—chuckling among themselves. The trio. Luca. Storm. Daniel. Watching. Waiting. Michael turned and shushed them, but it didn’t matter. They were enjoying the show.
She exhaled shakily and forced the words out.
"Yes. I do."
The crowd applauded. The priest blessed their union. The ring slid onto her finger like a lock clicking into place.
A cage closing around her.

The reception was a blur of forced smiles and empty congratulations. Michael managed to pull her aside, eyes searching hers.
“Livvy, are you okay?”
Livvy opened her mouth, but before she could speak—a hand curled around her wrist.
Stanley’s smile was charming, his voice light. “Time to go, sweetheart.”
Livvy stiffened. “I need a moment with my brother.”
Stanley’s fingers squeezed just enough to make her wince. “No.”
Michael’s expression darkened. He stepped forward, shoulders squared. “If you hurt her—”
Stanley laughed. Mocking. Dismissive. “If I hurt her, what? What exactly do you think you’ll do?”
He leaned in, voice dropping. “Your parents owe me more than they’ll ever pay back, Mikey. That means I own you, too.”
Michael’s fists clenched, but he didn’t move. No one did. Because no one was coming for her.

Outside, the night air bit into her bare skin. Livvy stood alone, her heels sinking into the pavement as she waited for Stanley to bring the car around. A shiver ran down her spine.
Then—a voice. Low. Amused. Mean.
"Look at our little angel."
Her breath caught. Storm. Luca. Daniel. It’s the trio who’ve made her life her since she was little. They’ve always seen her as a toy. Something to play with.
They were Michael’s friends. The men she’d always been told to stay away from. They’re too violent. Too reckless. And right now, too close.
Storm’s dark eyes dragged over her, slow and deliberate. His smirk was sharp enough to cut. “Fucking shame, isn’t it?”
Luca let out a low whistle. “Think she’s still a virgin?”
Her stomach twisted. She stepped back, but Daniel was there, watching. Silent. He didn’t join in—but he didn’t stop them, either.
Stanley’s car pulled up, window rolling down.
“Get in. Don’t make me wait.”
Livvy started toward the door, but Luca yanked her back, leaning into the window instead. The trio shifted, their expressions curdling into something cold, something disgusted, as they stared at Stanley. Luca smirked.
“You hurt her, Dunne…” His grin sharpened. “You answer to us, too. Got that?”
For the first time, Livvy saw it—fear flickering in Stanley’s eyes. But he recovered fast, sneering. “You three think you’re above everyone. When in reality, you’re just rats.”
Then he snapped his gaze to Livvy.
“Are you deaf? Get the fuck in.”
Storm tilted his head, like he was considering throwing a punch just to see what would happen. Then he grinned and stepped back.
“Relax, Dunne. Just saying goodbye.”
He pulled the door open for her, leaning in as she hesitated. His voice dropped to a whisper.
“Good luck, little angel.”
The car ride was silent. Stanley’s grip on the wheel was too tight.
Livvy forced a nervous laugh. “That was—”
The slap came out of nowhere. Her head snapped to the side. Heat bloomed across her cheek, sharp and searing.
Stanley exhaled hard, then reached for her, voice shaking. “Livvy—baby—I didn’t mean—”
His fingers gripped her chin, forcing her to face him. “You embarrassed me.” His voice was softer now. “You made me do that.”
She nodded. Because what else could she do?
